Nicola Gardner is a writer & an actress. Nicola is the creator and writer of The Windrush Warriors, a comedy drama shown at 53:two & The King’s Arms in October 2022 & also The Community Centre, a multi-ethnic comedy play that was shown at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.
The Windrush Warriors is now on the prestigious university circuit and was commissioned twice last year by Manchester University and shown at the Contact Theatre. UCLAN commissioned the show in 2022.
Nicola was also commissioned to write The Last Appointment for Sheffield Crucible Theatre’s 4x15 production.
As an actress, Nicola has appeared in prime time TV productions such as Emmerdale and The Royal, most recently playing Helena the Undertaker in Coronation Street.
Nicola has appeared in high profile theatre productions such as Mwana at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow & the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh & A Caribbean Abroad at the Library Theatre, Manchester. Nicola has also toured with Northern Broadsides Theatre Company playing the role of Ariel in The Tempest.
In 2023 Nicola appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in An Afternoon with the Ladies of the Cliff Richard Fan Club which was shown at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh and attended by Sir Lenny Henry.
Nicola is also a stand-up comedienne and has performed at the Frog & Bucket in Manchester city centre. Nicola has appeared in comedy plays for BBC Radio 4, playing Poppy the lead in Whoopi Goldberg’s Country Life by Shelagh Delaney and other roles such as Biyot Abdulle in Number 10 with the late Sir Anthony Sher.
